A unique site in Europe located on the banks of the Charente river, where land and water merge, Rochefort's lagooning station is an example of efficient management of the environment. With an area of 70ha, this station allows the waste water of the town of Rochefort to be treated economically and ecologically. This site is also a remarkable place for the reception of water birds (duck, wader, grebe, ...) due to the abundance of plankton and the development by the LPO of specific pools on the edges of Charente.
This site is managed by the city of Rochefort and the League for the Protection of Birds and is animated by "Espace Nature".
Guided tours only, activities, outings all year round, upon reservation obligatory at the Espace nature at 05 46 82 12 44
