On 17 June 1816, in the roadstead of Aix, the frigate La Méduse, accompanied by three other ships, weighed anchor bound for Senegal. On 17 July 1816, the brig l'Argus came across the last 15 survivors on the raft on which some of the shipwrecked crew of the Méduse had taken refuge.
Follow the sequence of events that took place between these two dates, and the impact of this shipwreck, which served as a source of inspiration for the painter Théodore Géricault.
