Along the way, you will see:
- Saint-André Church: Built in the 12th century, the Romanesque Saint-André Church is a historic monument comprising a Romanesque nave and a Gothic choir; it is distinguished on the north side by its richly carved porch. It played a crucial role during the Hundred Years’ War, serving as a refuge for the inhabitants, and fortifications were added to strengthen its defences. Listed as a historic monument since 1938. Over the centuries, the church has undergone numerous alterations; notably, the north porch and its entrance were completely walled up in the 18th century. A recent archaeological survey has brought these hidden treasures to light: arches decorated with plant motifs, depictions of mythical creatures, and many other remarkable details.
You will pass through:
- the Bois des Châtaigniers: The chestnut tree does not thrive in limestone soils but seems to flourish on the hills of Champagne. Nationally, its natural range is limited to Corsica, but it has been planted almost everywhere for its fruit and its rot-resistant wood, which is used to make fences or agricultural barriers.
