  • Recharge your batteries as you walk through the fields and pass the Logis du Péré hotel and restaurant. At the end of the walk, take a moment to admire the church on the banks of the Aubraye.

The building is best known for its bold carved modillions. To the south, the former vicarage was converted after the Revolution into a pleasant bourgeois residence known as La Chesnaie.

    - The Ash Tree: One of the marshes’ iconic trees, pruned into a ‘pollard’ shape for hundreds of years, the ash tree leaves a distinctive mark on the landscape with its
twisted trunk and crown featuring numerous bulges. Ash trees fulfil many functions, such as demarcating plots of land, providing firewood and fodder for livestock, offering shade, sheltering from the wind, stabilising the soil and retaining water. As they grow and are pruned, hollows form and are inhabited by numerous species of birds (owls, hoopoes), insects and mammals (pygmy shrews, bats).
