Architecture Spring: Spotlight on the General Store

A rare reminder of the activities associated with the former naval arsenal founded under Louis XIV, the former Magasin Général has a history as rich as it is surprising, which recent archaeological excavations are shedding new light on. Following a restoration programme, its buildings have been given a new lease of life since 2022. Dedicated to economic development and innovation, they now house a business incubator, third-place innovation spaces and a business centre. The courtyard, which is open to the public, offers an interpretive trail exploring the former penal colony.
