Clowning workshop: an introduction and an exploration

This workshop is open to anyone who wishes to learn about and discover clown theatre and the world of the clown, or to hone their skills.
Each day of the workshop will begin with a relaxation and warm-up session to help participants connect with their bodies and tune into themselves and their emotions.
What is a clown?
A clown is a being who lives in the present moment. They can do anything, but they can also do nothing. They know how to act, especially when they don’t know what to do. In any case, they act. They do not set out to be funny; on the contrary, they are sensitive and naive beings who experience dramatic situations, and it is the way they experience them that moves us and makes us laugh or cry.

The work on clowning will therefore be based on learning various acting techniques, through playful exercises and improvisations – solo, in pairs or in trios – through which we will seek to develop:
- the expression of your imagination,
- sincerity in your performance,
- the ability to tune into your own emotions, those of your partner(s) and those of the audience,
- and, above all, the pleasure and freedom of performing.
