For several years, Ludovic Hubler travelled across continents with a crazy idea: to travel round the world… solely by hitchhiking!

Ludovic Hubler: a life dedicated to others

A social entrepreneur, travel writer and speaker, Ludovic Hubler has made human connection and commitment the guiding thread of his life. Born on 11 September 1977, his journey has been marked by a tireless quest for understanding and action in the service of others.

With a Master of Science in Management from the Strasbourg School of Management, he chose, at the start of his career, to swap the traditional path for a daring project: a round-the-world trip by hitchhiking, undertaken between 2003 and 2008.

This extraordinary journey, which took him through some sixty countries and covered more than 170,000 kilometres, achieved solely through the generosity of motorists worldwide, allowed him to immerse himself in diverse cultural realities and to experience an exceptional human adventure. This formative experience, rich in lessons and memorable encounters, gave rise to his first film and book, *Le Monde en Stop, 5 années à l’école de la vie* (The World by Hitchhiking: 5 Years at the School of Life), which won the Pierre Loti Prize and has been translated into several languages (www.lemondeenstop.com).

Building on these years of immersion in cultures around the world, he became involved in humanitarian work and spent five years as head of field operations for the organisation Peace and Sport, under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco. This experience led him to found TRAVEL WITH A MISSION (TWAM – www.travelwithamission.org), an organisation seeking to promote civic engagement and the implementation of projects in the public interest, whether for individuals, businesses, public figures or educational institutions.

At the same time, he shares his experience through talks at various organisations (companies, care homes, schools and universities). These talks, which combine travel stories with in-depth reflections, address key themes such as boldness, risk-taking, leadership and commitment (https://conferences.ludovichubler.com).

Convinced that life is a series of challenges to be overcome, Ludovic steps out of his comfort zone every year by taking on physical or intellectual challenges. His latest challenge, La Diagonale de l’Engagement, is in keeping with this tradition whilst reflecting his long-standing commitment to a more united world.

This constant quest for meaning is enriched by strong family ties: Ludovic is married to Marisol, whom he met whilst hitchhiking around the world, and is the father of two children.
