Discovering the orchids and butterflies of the Échillais stubble fields

The chaumes are calcareous grasslands formed by centuries of sheep grazing.
They once covered a large area of the municipality; today, only a few patches remain of this habitat, which is particularly rich in butterfly and orchid species.
