European Heritage Days at the Musée Hèbre

The Hèbre Museum welcomes you to the 42nd European Heritage Days.

Housed in a former 18th-century townhouse, renovated in 2006 by the architect Pierre-Louis Faloci, the Hèbre Museum brings together the Museum of Art and History and the Heritage Department.
It is home to the Centre for the Interpretation of Architecture and Heritage (CIAP), which traces the development of Rochefort, notably featuring a relief map from 1835 created by the engineer Pierre-Marie Touboulic.
The museum also boasts a rich collection of paintings, contemporary Kanak art and Australian Aboriginal art, including a significant series of bark paintings from Arnhem Land – one of the most remarkable collections in France after that of the Musée du Quai Branly.
The cabin of the frigate La Flore, reconstructed in 2023, evokes Pierre Loti’s first voyage to the Pacific. It bears witness to his connection with Easter Island and displays facsimiles of objects and drawings inspired by this formative journey.

EXHIBITION: ‘MON PETIT THÉÂTRE DE PEAU D’ÂNE’ – JEAN-MICHEL OTHONIEL

These are the final days to visit the temporary exhibition ‘Mon Petit Théâtre de Peau d’Âne’, conceived by Jean-Michel Othoniel after he discovered the sets and figurines created by Pierre Loti to stage this tale by Charles Perrault. A unique exhibition: an exceptional collection of the artist’s watercolours and works, dresses from Jacques Demy’s film, on loan from the Cinémathèque, and items from the Jacques Demy archives, with the support of Rosalie Varda

PERLES D’ÂME PERFORMANCE:

A poetic journey inspired by the world of Pierre Loti, the tale of ‘Peau d’âne’ and the work of Jean-Michel Othoniel. Drawer after drawer, fragments of materials and memories come to life. They are manipulated, transformed and gradually come together to form a garment in the making.
A sensitive journey through memory, matter and metamorphosis.
