Discovering the ‘mer’s trail’ – these strands of debris (both natural and man-made) left on the beach when the sea recedes.
A fragile living environment, it provides a home and food for many animals (birds, molluscs, rodents) and constitutes a genuine ecosystem.

A fragile living environment, it provides a home and food for many animals (birds, molluscs, rodents) and constitutes a genuine ecosystem.
Together on the beach (with our buckets, magnifying glasses and guides – equipment provided), we’ll carry out a proper investigation to find the treasures it holds (seaweed, shells, seeds that have travelled, minerals, flounder and ray eggs, etc.), and identify them (fun facts, quizzes, identification charts).
We’ll learn about the role of the intertidal zone and what it contains, as well as how to protect it.
A fun and educational family activity for young and old alike. Suitable for ages 5 and over; teenagers welcome.
Activity at the North Beach of Port des Barques on the mainland.
Meet in front of the ‘information point’ hut located at La Passe aux Bœufs, opposite the entrance to Île Madame.
