Sold to the City in 1948, the buildings subsequently housed the charitable works of the Order of Malta and then a specialised care home (MAS). This complex has recently undergone renovation work to create housing, a retirement home and a small block of flats; a conversion that involves contemporary architectural intervention whilst respecting the heritage of the 19th and 20th centuries as much as possible.
