  • A vast building in the neoclassical style, the current sub-prefecture moved into the former Naval Orphanage in 1985; the building was constructed in 1848 by the engineer Antoine Mathieu. Intended to accommodate young girls who had lost their fathers whilst serving in the Navy, as well as widows, the establishment was run by the Sisters of Charity.
