Pierre Loti’s home is one of the few writers’ houses still containing its original furnishings and collections. Closed from 2012 to 2025, the project involved 34 different trades to stabilise and restore the building, transforming it into this exceptional historic monument complete with all its collections. The result of exemplary work, it stands as a symbol of the remarkable rescue of heritage at risk.
Photographs and old postcards also guided the curator in deciding how to display and rearrange the collection items that have been returned to the house.

Heritage Days 2026 offer a tour focused on exploring two reimagined spaces – the redesigned garden and the reconstructed Chinese room – and showcase the restoration decisions based on photographs preserved since the writer’s death. Tour guides will be on hand to answer your questions during these special 30-minute tours.
