European Heritage Days on the Transbordeur Bridge site

Built in 1900 by Ferdinand Arnodin, the Transbordeur Bridge, a listed Historic Monument, is a structure unique in France. Step aboard the gondola for a journey back in time.

- On both banks: Exhibition: 50 years of conservation, the rebirth of a unique monument
Closed on 4 February 1967, the Transbordeur Bridge sank into oblivion. Lacking maintenance, the iron giant fell into disrepair and the Ministry of Transport allocated a budget of 1.4 million francs to authorise its outright demolition. Then, as the years passed, the monument teetered on the brink, but local support grew. On 30 April 1976, a decree by the Secretary of State for Culture changed the site’s fate by listing it as a Historic Monument. Come and discover, through a photographic exhibition dedicated to the 1970s, the poignant accounts of this period of neglect and the incredible resilience of our heritage, now saved.
