Lecture: La Fayette, a sailor against his will

Although born into a family of landed nobility, La Fayette travelled by sea four times to reach the United States, facing political, logistical and diplomatic constraints. Through the study of these voyages, Vincent Bouat-Ferlier will shed light on the development of his commitment, as well as the role these crossings played in shaping his political and military image.
