On the occasion of its twenty-second edition, the festival is once again following in the footsteps of Pierre Loti in the Mediterranean by dedicating a second thematic concert to him, this time under the sign of poetry.
Around the works of Ravel, Duparc and Rossini, punctuated by true pearls of the Spanish zarzuelas repertoire, the emblematic duo formed by the baritone Victor Sicard, as well as the pianist and singer Anna Cardona Esteva, invites us on a refined musical journey. the actor Jean-Pierre Darroussin will play the narrator, for an evening where the words will resonate with the notes.
For the first time, Maurice Ravel's twelve Corsican popular melodies will be performed by a baritone, based on their unpublished manuscript, kept at the Musée de la Corse in Corte. After Jacques Ibert last year, it will be Maurice Ravel's turn to give voice to Don Quixote on rhythms inspired by Spanish and Basque dances: guajira, zortzico and jota.
Henri Duparc will transport us to a more intimate universe, where 'everything is only order and beauty, luxury, calm and voluptuousness', thanks to two melodies of great finesse, sublimating poems by Baudelaire. Echoing this, light scores by Rossini and excerpts from zarzuelas will close the evening with a bang. This rich program will be embellished with works for solo piano, written by the Catalan composer Frederic Mompou, the Italian Domenico Scarlatti and the Spaniard Enrique Granados.
Finally, texts by Pierre Loti, Baudelaire and other Mediterranean authors will be performed by the actor Jean-Pierre Darroussin. An invitation to sail between the musical and literary shores of the Mediterranean.
