‘WHEN METAL MEETS SISTERHOOD’ by Stéphanie Nolf

During this event, Stéphanie Nolf will present CHAOS RISING, an international collaborative metal music project launched in 2019. By sharing the stories and experiences of the female musicians involved, she will show how, across the globe (from Peru to Indonesia via Iran, Germany and Switzerland), passionate women hope to inspire others to pursue their musical ambitions, whilst creating a more inclusive and supportive environment within the extreme music scene.

There are 60 of them from 20 different countries involved in this venture, some at the risk of their lives…

The speaker: Stéphanie Nolf

A musician for over 30 years, Stéphanie Nolf formed the thrash/death metal band UNSAFE in 1998 in Limoges. Her favourite instrument is the bass, but she also plays guitar, programmes drum tracks and other virtual instruments, and mixes the tracks… Skills she puts to use in fostering a diversity of styles within the CHAOS RISING project, whilst always remaining within the realm of extreme music.
With nine albums to her name, Stéphanie Nolf has extensive live performance experience alongside renowned artists (Mass Hysteria, Napalm Death, No Return, Crucified Barbara, etc.). Through the CHAOS RISING project, Stéphanie Nolf also hopes to “give a voice to those who have none”.
