Robinson Khoury

Robinson Khoury has established himself today as one of the most singular jazz trombonists. In March 2025, he has just received the Django Reinhardt Prize from the Jazz Academy, which crowns him best musician of the year.

Perhaps waiting for a Victoire du jazz 2025 for best concert, for which he is already nominated. Very early on, he developed an open musical practice, nourished by classical, rock, blues and jazz, claiming the influences of trombonists such as Glenn Ferris or Daniel Zimmermann. At only thirty years old, he has already multiplied his experiences in prestigious orchestras (Métropole Orkest, Quincy Jones Orchestra) and collaborated with renowned artists such as Michel Portal, Erik Truffaz, Ibrahim Maalouf or the Sarā b sextet welcomed at the Coupe d'Or in 1999. coupled with an exceptional talent as a composer and an insatiable musical curiosity, he brings an XXL lyricism to all the melodies he seizes. His playing is imbued with a wide and powerful sound, warmly coppery, both mellow and fluid. Today, he presents MŸA, a dreamlike program in which a thrilling alchemy between jazz, Middle Eastern sounds, Gregorian chants, Arabic maqam, ancient music and retrofuturistic electronic music takes place, both timeless and deeply rooted in our time. In a trio with keyboardist Léo Jasef and percussionist Anissa Nehari, this trombone virtuoso of Lebanese origin invites us into his music of spheres.
