Dear Scarf is a tender and luminous fable about the bond that unites a parent to his child, and about the delicate need to let him transform. Before our eyes, Mam and Môm become mother and daughter as much as they already are, carried by a lively and playful language. Together, they go through the joys of childhood, the discoveries, the questions, the stories that we invent and those that help us grow. To accompany Môm's inevitable departure for the wide world, Mam knits a huge scarf. In turn a refuge, a thread of love and a promise of warmth, it also becomes the symbol of an attachment which, if it does not loosen, can hinder the momentum towards autonomy. How can we love without holding back? How can we protect without preventing us from leaving?
With a writing of great finesse, Sarah Carré explores this universal paradox by making language a real playground. Words create the world, shape links, soothe fears and open up a space where everyone can find their rightful place. As co-director, Sylviane Fortuny strives to reveal all the richness of the text, while Sophie Mayeux sublimates its subtleties within a score that gives pride of place to the body and movement.
Between humor, poetry and emotion, Chère foulard celebrates trust, separation as an act of love, and the strength of the stories we tell each other to learn to grow, together and then each on our own.
