Taking refuge in a bunker following a global catastrophe—with no way out—Jean and Jacques find themselves with a few tins of peas but no tin opener. “Le tourniquet” is the clash of two opposing personalities: a self-important intellectual and a naive man always ready to help. Tragedy gives way to farce... It is the slow agony of two men doomed to gradual annihilation... but in a side-splitting manner that turns established values on their head...
This satire, with its biting humour, written in 1973, remains highly relevant today as it tackles the themes of human selfishness and nuclear disaster.
