For more than twenty years, Sébastien Barrier has occupied a singular place in the theatrical landscape. Storyteller, singer and musician, he cultivates an immediately recognizable art of speech, combining humor, erudition, love of the French language and freedom of tone. His art of logorrhea, his enjoyable taste for bifurcations and digressions make each appointment a unique experience. With Nous camperons ici, he invites us to stop. Contrary to a world that is constantly accelerating, Sébastien Barrier sets up his strange truck, between van, boat and bivouac, to open up a parenthesis of stories, songs and music in the public space. The title borrows from the ritual phrase of the cowboy announcing the end after a long crossing. Sébastien Barrier transforms each performance into an intense encounter, halfway between a one-man show with subversive eloquence and a tenderly punk poetic recital! His show is reinvented through confidences, the funny improvisations and songs.
His words, generous and chiseled, bring out stories that question our way of inhabiting the world and taking care of the living. After several years spent in particular making us taste natural wines in his famous show Savoir enfin qui nous buvons, the artist finds here what is the basis of his work: welcoming the unexpected and making the present moment a material for creation.
