Tour: From flower to fruit: the miracle of transformation

It is hard for us to imagine the planet covered in a single shade of green, devoid of the colours and scents of the first flowers and fruits. It is also difficult to pinpoint the origin of fruit, so much does it fade into the slow evolution of the emergence of angiosperms—plants capable of enclosing their seeds within a fruit—which constituted a veritable revolution. Faced with the rapidity of this change, Charles Darwin spoke of an ‘abominable mystery’.
