Rochefort tells the story of a monarch's ambition, that of the young King Louis XIV, who dreamt of becoming master of the oceans. To achieve this, he needed a naval arsenal open to the Atlantic Ocean.
The stones of the rope factory, the double form, the admiral's dock and the food shop, all grandiose monuments designed to equip or repair the sailing warships that were built on the banks of the Charente, tell this prestigious story.
