  • In 1791, at the height of the French Revolution, Antoine Bruny d'Entrecasteaux was entrusted with a difficult mission: to retrace the steps of Monsieur de La Pérouse, who had disappeared in the Pacific in 1788, and to bring back breadfruit from the island of Amis. Difficult climatic conditions, difficult political conditions, epidemics... this expedition was exceptional in scientific terms, but dramatic in human terms.
