To mark the end of Benjamin Caillaud's artist residency, the Centre International de la Mer is presenting an outdoor exhibition opposite the Corderie Royale fountain, featuring an extract from his photographic work on the Charente estuary.

Between the Tonnay-Charente suspension bridge and the cliffs of Île Madame, Benjamin Caillaud explored both banks of the Charente estuary, walking as close to the river as possible. The photographer traversed the landscapes with the power of his intimate knowledge of the area, renewing a fantastic experience every day. None of his photographic journeys could last longer than a day, and every evening he had to make his way back home to his daughter and his family. With a series of selected images, the Centre International de la Mer offers the public a preview of his Odyssée de l'estuaire.

Photographer and doctor of history, Benjamin Caillaud was born in Rochefort in 1979. He focuses his creative work on coastal resources and landscapes and collaborates on university research programmes on the reshaping of Atlantic shores in the context of global climate change. When he is not exploring the Atlantic coastline, he walks through the major cities of Europe and North America, photographing the daily lives of their inhabitants.

Outdoor exhibition in the courtyard of Les Longitudes restaurant.
Meet the artist during European Heritage Days on 20 and 21 September from 3pm onwards.
