Emblematic artistic director of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine ensemble for twenty-five years, Jean-François Heisser surrounds himself with personalities who have marked his career to celebrate the end of his leadership of the NACO.

A pianist and conductor emeritus, he puts his favorite instrument in the spotlight for this exceptional concert. Before passing the baton, Jean-François Heisser offers us here a program that reflects the musical adventure he shared with his musicians and the public: ambitious and generous.

Commissioned by the Princesse de Polignac, a great patron of the arts, Francis Poulenc's Concerto for two pianos and orchestra in D minor, FP 61, was premiered in 1932. Composed in three movements (rhythmic, lyrical and abundant), it is inspired as much by Mozart as by jazz and sounds with non-European influences. Contemporary French composer and conductor Gilbert Amy, a long-time collaborator of Jean-François Heisser, entrusted him with the interpretation of his latest world premiere: Intervention V.
In the festive spirit of this concert, the four pianists present take up an original composition by Jean-François Heisser himself for two pianos and eight hands, and deliver a sparkling cocktail of Ludwig van Beethoven's symphonies. The final bouquet of this concert, the Symphony No. 8 ' Unfinished ' is one of Franz Schubert's most famous. It consists of only two complete movements, although the composer began writing the third, which he never finished. A masterpiece of the symphonic repertoire, dated 1822, it is distinguished by its moving melodies and refined orchestration.
