An iconic location that sparked Pierre Loti's wanderlust, the school he attended in 1862 is described in Le Roman d'un enfant as a ‘place of suffering’. It was here that he prepared for the entrance exam to the Naval Academy before embarking on his adventurous life. ‘My fate was sealed, and a future of travel and adventure lay ahead of my seventeen-year-old self, eager for the unknown!’

Discover the history of this college with its rich past, which has seen many famous figures pass through its doors over the last 190 years, including the famous writer and sailor Pierre Loti, who became a member of the Académie Française. Transformed into a secondary school in 1886, it took the name Pierre Loti in 1924 and became a college again in the 1970s.
