Make the most of your visit to (re)discover the building that houses the collections, the Hôtel de Cheusses. The oldest civil building in Rochefort, listed as a historic monument since 1932, the Hôtel de Cheusses today bears witness to over 400 years of history.

The museum and the Heritage Department are offering you exceptional access to the Hôtel d’Amblimont, between the courtyard and the garden. Named in honour of the Countess of Amblimont when King Louis XV gifted it to her, this building housed the General Command in the 19th and 20th centuries, which oversaw the administrative functions of the arsenal. Julien Viaud, alias Pierre Loti, was posted there on several occasions during his career.
