    * JOSEPH-RENÉ BELLOT, HERO OF THE POLAR SEAS
Monday 21 July and 11 August at 6.30pm
In the middle of the 19th century, Joseph-René Bellot, a young Rochefort man from a modest family with a passion for adventure and glory, joined the British Navy on an exceptional mission that would prove fatal. We invite you to discover or rediscover this somewhat forgotten hero.
Musical reading with guide Maryse Vila-Cornellas, accompanied by cellist Karine Delage.

    * THE VOYAGE OF ENTRECASTEAUX, AN EXCEPTIONAL EXPEDITION
Monday 28 July and 18 August at 6.30pm
In 1791, at the height of the French Revolution, Antoine Bruny d'Entrecasteaux was entrusted with a difficult mission: to retrace the steps of Monsieur de La Pérouse, who had been missing in the Pacific since 1788, and to bring back breadfruit from the island of Amis. Difficult climatic conditions, difficult political conditions, epidemics... this expedition was exceptional in scientific terms, but dramatic in human terms.
Two-way reading with guide Maryse Vila-Cornellas, accompanied by actress Catherine Sarezza.

    * LOTI, A STAY IN BEIJING
    Monday 4 and 25 August at 6.30pm
In August 1900, having just returned from his trip to Persia, Loti set sail again for China on the Redoutable, which joined the international fleet engaged in the Boxer War. He brought back a post-war report full of terrible images, where the collapse of a world and the discovery of one of mankind's oldest civilisations are intertwined in wonder; this will be the book ‘The Last Days of Peking’.
Musical reading with guide Maryse Vila-Cornellas, accompanied by musician Nolwenn Skolle (flute, voice).
