  • On 17 September 1817, the Uranie, commanded by Louis-Claude de Freycinet, left Toulon on a scientific expedition around the world. On board was a woman smuggled aboard, Rose, none other than the captain's wife. After three years of circumnavigation and a shipwreck in the Falklands, the mission led to the publication of two travel journals by this extraordinary couple.
