Six young employees work in a luxury hotel in Aigues-Mortes. As the seasons pass at the Hôtel de la Tour, their dreams of promotion, their love stories and the demands of their customers intertwine in their daily lives, revealing the tensions and ambitions of young people searching for a future that matches their desires. With humour and delicacy, even incorporating musical comedy, Guillaume Vincent blends Marivaux-style banter with reflections on the ambiguity of human relationships and desire, between hopes and harsh realities. The shadow of the fortified walls of the Tour de Constance (which was a lighthouse before becoming a prison for Protestant women after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes in 1685) acts here as a metaphor for confinement resulting from a certain social determinism. The author and director skilfully directs the six young actors and actresses from the eleventh graduating class of the Ecole supérieure d'art dramatique du Théâtre national de Bretagne in Rennes, for whom the play was written especially. Their direct, sincere and generous acting, as well as their natural presence, already show great maturity in conveying the emotions and aspirations of a generation in the making, to which they themselves belong.
