It was created at the beginning of 2021 by Mathias Charton, conductor and choir, academic director of cultural action in the Poitiers academy, with the complicity of Hélène Bonnet, pianist and vice-president of Eurochestries 17.
Under the direction of Mathias Charton, assisted by 10 music education teachers, all dynamic and committed choir leaders, Acad'Ô Chœur is accompanied on the piano by Hélène Bonnet.
After having sung songs from several continents (from Latin America to Europe, Africa and Asia) in several languages and with body percussion and choreography, for its 3rd season, Acad'Ô Chœur is diversifying its repertoire with an opening to jazz (Michel Legrand, George Gershwin and Duke Ellington) and pop music thanks to the arrangements made by Mathias Charton for this group of 3 to 5 equal voices.
This teenage choir is supported in partnership by the Rectorat de Poitiers, the Fédérations académique (FACS) and nationale (FNCS) du chant choral scolaire, the DRAC Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the Eurochestries 17 festival, which defends the same notions of sharing, listening to each other and cooperation around music. It has also received the support of the Conseil Départemental de la Charente.
The ensemble has given more than thirty concerts in the region and beyond, performing three times for the former Minister of Education Jean-Michel Blanquer and taking part in the international competition "Lisbon Sings" in November 2022. He was recently commissioned by Sony Music to produce two videos for Stromae and Harry Styles.
