By hosting this meeting of engravers, the Trizay contemporary art centre pays special tribute to the art of engraving, which appeared in Europe at the end of the 14th century, even before the advent of printing.
This exhibition, coordinated by Cédric Neau, engraver, confirms the idea that printmaking is an integral part of the plastic arts. If the painted work is adorned with technical qualifiers to assert its currents and trends, the printed work has nothing to envy it by all the technical facets it demonstrates. The act of creation is no less secondary, the constraint of the materials and tools required are as much a space of freedom that forces a quest for the imaginary that is constantly on the alert.
Eight engravers will present their passion through their work: Dominique Berteletti, Max Boisrobert, Guy Braun, Michèle Joffrion, Raoul Lazar, Anne Mounic, REM (Rémy Joffrion) and Nicolas Terrasson.
