Guided tour : A creative architect Alphonse Bourgeat

Cultural ,  Guided tour ,  Architecture ,  Historic in Rochefort
  • Architect of the city from 1854 until his death, Alphonse Bourgeat (1828-1879) is without doubt one of the most endearing personalities of Rochefort, but also one of the most unknown. He was the author, for example, of the remarkable cenotaph of Joseph Bellot, and he was also responsible for the most beautiful eclectic façades in the town centre, which he did not hesitate to endow with rich sculpted decorations, but perfectly ordered according to rules that he enjoyed reinventing.
