Guided tour: One city, one architect

The town's first identified architect, Félix Garde was a man steeped in neoclassical culture who left his mark on the Rochefort of the first half of the 19th century. Known even in Parisian circles, for over 40 years he served the ambitions of the town's councillors.

Among the buildings he was able to erect in Rochefort are the Protestant church, the conversion of the Hôtel Hèbre de Saint-Clément, the first core of the secondary school, the church of Saint-Louis, and the covered market, designed as a veritable palace dedicated to commerce.
