  • Nathalie Papin, a leading playwright for young people, tackles the delicate subject of the passage from life to death with poetry and humour. Far from lapsing into pathos, this sensitive and intelligent play tells the story of Paco, stuck in limbo between two worlds. The play is staged in a spare, uncluttered style that enhances its dreamlike quality.

Paco is an adult lost in a strange world. Somewhere between life and death. In a coma, most likely... And yet, strangely, he feels at peace, serene and contemplative. Until unexpected creatures appear: a donkey who offers to accompany him on his wanderings and regularly bites him on the bum, a little girl who asks him to be her father, and his own son who tells him he doesn't need him any more. But what should he do? Rejoin the world of the living? Pass permanently into the afterlife? That's the question... Does he even have a choice?
To portray these existential tribulations, Emilie Le Roux has opted for a light touch. Her staging and images reflect the moments of doubt and questioning that are typical of this antechamber to death. Bathed in darkness, the theatre stage becomes a place where time stretches infinitely, where reality becomes distorted and every encounter is possible. A journey that sublimates life!
