Spring in the Cemeteries: The Naval Cemetery – In the Footsteps of Rochefort’s Heroes and the Unknown

Hidden from view behind its high stone walls and an imposing gate, the Rochefort Naval Cemetery is a haven of peace and greenery right in the heart of the city. To mark the 10th anniversary of the Printemps des Cimetières, this unique site, transformed into a landscape cemetery in 2014, unveils 800 graves spread over nearly 1.5 hectares, a silent testament to the lives of the men and women, both civilian and military, who have left their mark on local history.
