This annual event allows craftsmen to show their skills, and the public to discover the workshops, to learn about techniques and to exchange with professionals. At Le Clos, the Ateliers Partagés de l'Estuaire work with local professionals and artisans to offer the curious authentic experiences in contact with materials.
For the past two years, the Ateliers Partagés de l'Estuaire have taken over part of the buildings of the former Marine slaughterhouse in collaboration with the third place that is being developed there. This year, for the JEMA, they are joining forces with other craftsmen to showcase the trades they practice with passion. For one week, visitors are invited to dive into the heart of a unique place, located on the marina of Rochefort and to enter the workshops.
It is a question of experimentation by touching the material and attending demonstrations, and of working on it through various paying courses and free initiations. During the weekend, the artisans open the doors to the making of a common work. This joint work is a surprise that will be unveiled during the weekend and which responds to the 2023 theme of the European Crafts Days: Sublimating the everyday. Through this work, the skills of wood, ceramics, fabric and metal are brought together. Through its creation, the craftsmen show the facets of the trades and the techniques used to sublimate the material.
Each year a region and a country are honoured and it is the turn of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region and Spain.
